A modern public service may begin online, but the people who need it may use older phones, slower connections or assistive technologies. Design that assumes ideal conditions can widen a gap rather than close it.

Accessible systems use readable contrast, clear labels, keyboard support and forms that explain errors plainly. They also provide a human alternative for situations that do not fit the standard path.

From idea to everyday practice

Testing with real users often reveals problems that a technical checklist misses. A simpler interface can benefit everyone, not only people with a documented accessibility need.

Progress is most meaningful when new technology expands participation.
